Neighborhood Rides

October 2 - Larkspur to San Francisco - 31 miles
Meet at the Park & Ride lot at Enterprise Blvd/West Capital Ave exit off I-80 west, 7:30am
This is an invigorating ride for skilled riders. We will explore beautiful San Francisco while experiencing a ferry trip across the bay, inmates exercising at San Quentin, the Ferry Bldg farmer's market, Crissy Field and more. Nothing compares to the exhilaration of cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge back to Larkspur. You won't want to miss this!

Bring $8 for a ferry ticket, money for lunch in Sausalito and maybe for a drink afterwards in Larkspur. This is a challenging ride with traffic, hills and congestion, and participants should be experienced riders. We will catch the Larkspur Ferry at 9:40am, which arrives at the San Francisco Ferry Building about 10:30.

Our ride takes us through Fisherman’s Wharf toward Ft. Mason, down to the Marina District for a ride past beautiful homes, boats and people involved in all sorts of activities. We ride onto Crissy Field and make our climb up to the Golden Gate Bridge. We'll proceed down under the bridge to the west side which is reserved for bicycles on weekends. The ride across the bridge is exhilarating. Once off the bridge we’ll drop down into Ft. Baker, and to our final drop into Sausalito to a quaint deli for lunch, which can be enjoyed along the Bay. From Sausalito we’ll ride north through an estuary and a couple busy miles, including a couple hills and along the Bay toward Tiburon. At just the right spot we’ll make a right turn along the Bay and on into Belvedere for one of the most beautiful sights of the trip - a taste of the Italian coast, but in California, with San Francisco as the backdrop. We continue riding for less than half a mile and will find ourselves in Tiburon. We will now have ridden about 21 miles.

From Tiburon we climb two more hills before riding up and down gentle slopes on a narrow windy road for the next seven miles or so. Once we drop down out of the hills we will have about three more miles to get back to the parking area. There is quite often wind in this area. At this point we will have ridden about 31 exhilarating miles. There is a micro-brewery close by if anyone wishes to relax a bit before heading for home.
