2012 ADULT BICYCLE AND ACCESSORY REBATE

This program is designed to reduce vehicle trips in the region and as a result improve air quality. The North Natomas Transportation Management Association (NNTMA) will rebate bicycles for 40% of the cost up to $250.00. Certain approved accessories can be submitted for an Accessory Rebate, for 40% of the cost up to $50. In return, the individual who is receiving the rebate will commit to attend a free Cycling Clinic and completing usage surveys every three months for one year.

Program Guidelines

  1. Any individual over the age of 18 years old may apply to receive an incentive under this program, providing the individual is a resident of the North Natomas community or an employee of a North Natomas business.

  2. All applicants must register in the Commuter Club, and keep all contact information current.

  3. Qualified applicants will be selected based on a review of their application by a committee of Board, staff and community members.

  4. Each person receiving a bicycle rebate agrees, by signing this application, to do the following:
  5. a) To take one of three pre-scheduled Cycling Clinics offered at the North Natomas Library. If the applicant is chosen for a rebate, they MUST attend one of the clinics to receive their rebate check. All rebates will be mailed after the clinic is attended.

    b) To commute or run errands by bicycle at least an average of three days a week during the warm weather months of May – October. (This is approximately 70 times a year.)

    c) Complete and submit quarterly surveys showing approximately how much the bicycle or accessory is used for commuting, errands and personal travel. Incomplete surveys will be returned for completion. Surveys are expected back in a timely manner.

    d) Become familiar with California Vehicle Code laws relating to bicyclists and follow them.

  6. Participants utilizing the rebate to purchase a new bicycle must visit a local regional bike shop. Internet and mass retail vendor receipts will not be accepted; a visit to a bike shop is educational and necessary to determine correct bike size and features.

  7. You may apply for either the Bicycle Rebate or the Accessory Rebate, but not both.

  8. Incentives are limited to one Bicycle Rebate per individual every three years. If you receive a Bicycle Rebate you may come back the following year for an Accessory Rebate, and then must wait three years to apply again for a Bicycle OR Accessory Rebate.

  9. Incentives are limited; submitting an application does not ensure funding. Incentives are based on a first-come-first-serve basis until the allotted monies have been exhausted.

  10. Rebate does not apply to taxes or other fees.

How to Apply

  1. Visit a reputable bicycle shop, select the bicycle or accessory you wish to purchase, and get a written quote for it. Quotes will not be accepted from the internet. You may purchase a bicycle or accessory and submit the receipt. However, there is no guarantee that you will receive a rebate and therefore, no advantage for buying early.

  2. Complete the Bicycle and Accessory Rebate Application; including your choice of Cycling Clinics.

  3. Return the application and quote to:
North Natomas TMA - Bicycle Rebate
1960 Del Paso Road, Suite 146
    Sacramento, CA 95834

  4. Application must be post marked by April 15, 2012.

  5. If selected to receive a rebate, you will be notified via e-mail or phone, in order to confirm the Cycling Clinic you plan to attend. (Please choose your preferred clinic date/time when applying.) You will then have 30 days to purchase your bicycle or accessory from the same bike shop where you received your quote and submit the receipt to the North Natomas TMA. You may purchase a different bicycle than the one submitted in the quote. However, the rebate will not be more than the budgeted amount determined by the quote that was submitted and may be less if a lower-priced bicycle is purchased.

  6. After you have completed the Cycling Clinic and submitted your receipt, the rebate check will be mailed to you at your home address.

  7. Follow-up surveys will be sent via e-mail and/or US Postal Service. It is imperative that you keep your contact information up-to-date. This is a requirement for the rebate!
